Eden Gardens Kolkata is regarded as India’s home of cricket. It is home ground for Bengal Ranji Team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Eden Gardens Capacity is approx 68,000. Eden Gardens Kolkata witnessed first test match in 1934 against England and first ODI in 1987 against Pakistan.
Eden Gardens Kolkata is one of few grounds in world right now which gets full cover protection in case of rain. Translucent covers have been imported from outside which are very lighter and needs 1/10th man force to get covers on ground.
In 2007, Eden Gardens Kolkata started tradition of ringing ceremony just 5 minutes before start of play. Sir Viv Richards, Nawab of Pataudi ,Sunil Gavaskar are some prominent names who have got chance to ring the bell.

1) Historic Test Win Against Australia After Follow On
This ground is fondly remembered for India winning against Australia in 2001 after following on. Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh were architect of that win under local lad Ganguly Captaincy.
India were 1-0 down in series and were following up in 2nd test match. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman played 4th day of Test match without getting out and then on 5th day Harbhajan Singh took hattrick
2) Rohit Sharma 264 in ODI
On 13 November 2014, Rohit Sharma scored 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, which is the highest individual score in ODIs. This was 2nd Double hundred for Rohit Sharma in 50 over.
3) India Exit from 96 World Cup:
This was a dreadful night for all Indian. India crashed out of WC semifinal and Image of Vinod Kambli in Tears is still afresh in mind of all Indian Fans.
India was chasing total and were command till Sachin was on crease. Once Sachin got out India keep losing one wicket after another. Due to unavoidable situation created by fans in stands Sri Lanka were declared winner.
4) Carlos Brathwaite 4 consecutive sixes:
Carlos Brathwaite hits four consecutive sixes against England to get West Indies Inked as T-20 WC winner second time in 2016.
Ben Stokes were at the receiving end and conceded 24 runs of 4 ball.
5) Hosted 1st Pink Test Match In India:
Eden gardens became 1st ground in India to host Pink Ball Day Night test match against Bangladesh. India won comfortably against Bangladesh. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee rang customary Eden garden Bell.
All the members of India vs Bangladesh 1st ever Test match in 2000 were invited to attend the match. Some other sports personality from India like Abhinav Bindra, Pullela Gopichand, Mary Com got honored by Cricket Association of Bengal.
